The reason for this is that a professional grade powder coating is superior to paint in demanding environments, such as industrial workspaces and laboratories. Items like industrial workbenches, lab tables, and laboratory workbenches should have powder coated surfaces.
A powder coating is a type of dry coating; the difference between a conventional liquid paint and a powder coating is that powder coating doesn’t require a solvent to keep the binder and filler parts in a liquid suspension form, making it more stable and durable than paint. Typically, powder coating is applied electrostatically and then heat-treated to form a tough skin that can withstand almost anything. Paint, on the other hand, is much more likely to flake or chip under stress.
Other reasons that powder coatings are superior include the fact that they emit zero or near-zero VOCs, or volatile organic compounds. Furthermore, they are much thicker than liquid coatings, and producing powder coated furniture tends to produce much less waste than conventional liquid/painted items. Powder-coated furniture also has fewer appearance variations in horizontal and vertical surfaces than similar painted pieces; after all, even in laboratories and industrial spaces looks can make a difference.
